Four trees of Batticaloa

Banana leaves heave and sway in the afternoon breeze with a wisdom, gravity, knowingly

Coconut leaves lace and unlace their traces in the wind looking light though heavily endowed with lignin's might

Mango leaves are sitting still in noontime torpor hanging, drooping like their fruit, green, oblongish

And cashew leaves are stiller still in healing stillness having nurtured fruit, their nuts and arils now long fallen
